Ability can mean different things to different people. I discovered that, to me, it has nothing to do with finance. It has to do with making a way out of no way. With Carpe Diem Communications, I demonstrate ability by bartering my services for the resources I need to get the ball rolling. Bartering provides me the client’s I need to solidify my abilities. This helps me to secure more client’s with my driven performance. A prospective client or consumer always thinks bottom line: ’how can this help me?’ No one opts into to something that is useless. Thus, I’m not working for free when I barter services, I’m endorsing my own checks. If I need cash for a project I’m working on, with or without the bucks, I create the opportunity for the outpouring!

In all my venturing efforts, I’ve learned there are more than one ways to skin a cat. Despite popular belief business owners don’t need a whole heap of cash or credit available to start sowing their professional dreams. Many of us are still waiting around for the miracle; the angel investor or that loan that only yields big for the stakeholders. We don’t need to liquidate or dumb-down our ideas so that someone else will pour all they have into us. With or without financing we must find a way to make a way for ourselves. So, that brings me to reach farther into a zone of self-discovery through bartering.

As I query myself, I begin by examining what I am in possession of -- ability. There’s no need for start up capital there. Ability shows up when the ambition starts. I recall times when there were no ambitious spirits within me. In the past there weren’t any pestering urgencies to show up for the cause. Maybe, it was because I didn’t realize the ability to perform was already inhibited in my character. I kept badgering myself with reminders that I wouldn’t be capable of such big dreams. I told myself I wasn’t experienced enough, or I didn’t have enough time to make it work. Those days of self-doubt, unknowingly, debilitated my dreams with remnants of the most discouraging proverbial thoughts that only I convinced myself of. I would dwell on how much I lacked, instead of counting on the fulfillment of consistent progress. All of a sudden, ten years passed and my ideas only existed to me. Nothing gets accomplished that way. I found that encouraging myself to do the small things leads to bigger victories.

There can be several underlying reasons why a small business fails. The most common reason is lack of resources and financing. It’s a no brainier that there’s more to running a successful organization than a great idea. Anyone with an iota of creativity can dream big, but, the end result is fatale if you’re an innovative thinker with little to no funding to reproduce those ideas. Many times I find myself to be that big thinker. Constantly, I ponder on the spoils I can achieve if all my ideas can be actualized. If I can only plant one small seed and watch the harvest grow into a multitude of sizable crops, than these seedlings of ideas would become surmountable at best.

One small step I use to gain more potential clients attention is bartering. That’s why bartering my SEO services will always be a seed I choose to sow when the seeds are limited. When I barter with other businesses or professionals I look for a productive and promising reaping because I know that when I perform the task and deliver substantial results that I‘m cultivating a lasting impression with a mere seed.

Internet users across the globe are establishing virtual connections with perfect strangers while spending time online. These online communities can be found on a company’s website or within social networking sites, like Ning and Facebook, featured as a group. Businesses create online communities to support their efforts to encourage return user visits to their websites. Virtual community members create groups within online communities because they want to relate on some level or another. So, no matter the subject matter an online community is a relatable place for most who partake in them. Thus, it’s also a conduit for business to connect and relate to their market. Here is, in my opinion, the most engaging online communities on the net. Check them out. Get logged in and join the community that interest you. Or, if you’re a young company and want to see how it’s done then there’s nothing wrong with getting a little professional inspiration. These websites are productively engaging their users with fresh, fun, and creative content. They may not have the notoriety that Twitter and Facebook have achieved, but, they should get it really soon with these interactive measures!

It doesn’t get any simpler than this. Finally, after creating several blogs for other companies, I’ve set up my own. I created this blog for Carpe Diem Communications to compliment the website. The website was designed to efficiently leave a lasting impression. For that same reason the blog will be just as efficient. No. It’s not fancy. As an entrepreneur I may be a lot of things, but, fancy isn’t one of them. Anyone that knows me personally knows I’m as natural as they come. So, flooding this blog with a bunch of pretty pictures would only solidify that I know nothing. Since that’s the exact opposite of my ability I choose to focus on content more than the frills.

Don’t get me wrong! Though blogging is a science in and of itself, blogs do have personality. Their purpose is to identify the voice behind the suit. However, many business owners -- including myself, don’t know how to give life to that personal voice within our businesses. We may not know what to talk about or what to focus on when blogging. Thus, we put this very essential component off for another day. Then that day seems to be a little later than we thought it would come. Next thing we know all our competitors are reaching their online market and we are lagging behind in the transition. We all know procrastination stunts company growth.

For the last few years Carpe Diem Communications has been helping other businesses build an audience and shape their online presence, all the while we been finding our own niche. When I would write a review for a business or cover an event I was helping the business reach their potential market, yet, I wasn’t effectively reaching my own prospects. When I first became aware of building online audiences, I was excited about online public relations which led me to learn a world of coded language; HTML. I started creating websites and blogs for others and simultaneously wondered how I would give birth to my own corporate voice. But, I also wasn’t quite sure of what the end result would be or which online vehicle would help to establish the dream. I didn’t know if Carpe Diem Communications would be more successful as a SEO marketer or a Social Media maven. Hence, we needed a new direction.

I am not regretful nor bothered by the time that has lapsed with me trying to figure out this new direction. I just keep learning what I need to know. That’s what business is about anyway, because we focus on satisfying customers, we are forever changing. Eternal change translates to continual success in business. I accept these changes because these are the trials and errors of being self-employed. Not everything works out great. However, I am Carpe Diem Communications! With that being said, I am a company that grows as I do personally.

I’m calling this new direction: PROJECT APPLICATION.

There comes a time when you must take your own medicine -- a time to follow your own advice. That’s the new focus for Carpe Diem Communications. We are applying what we already know to our own new vision. This embarking on something new is really just utilizing what is old to bring on an abundance of what is present. In the present, there is always opportunity to do better.
